Updates on the Buddhavasa Project | ความคืบหน้าของเขตพุทธาวาสเฉลิมพระเกียรติ
Opening 25 January 2026
A fine example of traditional Thai Architecture in Australia’s multicultural landscape. In 2007, our Monastery began an initiative to build a Buddhavasa (Temple complex with Stupa, Uposatha Hall, Cloister and Multipurpose Hall) adjacent to the existing building. This was dedicated to His Late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand (1927-2016) on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of His Majesty’s Ascension to the Throne (2006) and His Majesty the King’s 80th Birthday Anniversary of (2007).

Our Monastery
Wat Dhammadharo is the first and only Thai Buddhist Monastery in the Australian Capital Territory, and since 1992 has been the heart of the Thai-Australian Buddhist community in the Canberra region.
